Sometimes you get lucky, some times you don't.Īt least you seem to get on with it so it's not a total loss. I suppose it's always a risk to buy a kit second hand. In Reply to: RE: Somewhere along the line, yes, you did posted by on Januat 07:05:40 I'm glad you are taking it with a stride. In the meantime, you'll be amused (?) to know that I've disconnected the Audio Physics Spark IIII's and gone back to my Linn Ninkas, which I guess proves that there just *is* no accounting for taste. (That's not as stupid as it sounds: several local friends have deemed me their source of audio knowledge - scary thought - and I'd like to know what I'm talking about with respect to current vintage Onkyo, NAD, Rotel, and Arcam, which have been my standard recommendations, depending on tastes and application.) The plan is to use a new-in-box Rotel RA 1062 that I just snared off the 'gon at a good price to listen while both of the Naim pieces are at NANA, and then resell the Rotel when the Naim gear comes back. Even if I didn't send either piece to NANA, I'd be vastly more content with my rig than I could've dreamed I'd be without dumping house-closing kinds of money into it. Even with all of these petty annoyances, the whole outfit sounds infinitely better than it ever has before, ever. The Nait will rattle upper midrange notes when it gets warm, occasionally freezes its input selector, and something inside it tumbles around the circuit boards if you tilt the chassis the AV2 has a noticeably high noise floor and makes a slight popping sound every time you turn the volume knob. The trouble is, both pieces were bought pre-owned and both of them appear to merit service. The Nait5i is now running in "unity gain" mode as a dedicated power amp, connected to an AV2 which affords vastly more functionality - even as a two-channel preamp, which is all it's doing for me right now. But I am grateful because I'd never seriously considered Naim (all of their stuff used to seem *so* weird and boutiquey when I was really knowledgeable about all of this, fifteen years ago), and I'm *really* impressed. In Reply to: RE: I did? posted by kuma on Januat 22:43:38 Their entry-level amp is pretty hard to beat. Hope you're still enjoying your little Nait. I think I told you shut up and go have a listen and decide. *Good thing kuma told me to get the Naim stuff, huh? * I think its best we stop talking about PRAT before we get rounded up and asked to leave :> ) In Reply to: RE: Gosh, whenever I post in here, looking for PRAT.
